CTI Glossary
CTI - Links your computer system with your telephone system to allow you to control and enhance the functionality of your phone system through your computer.
1st Party Call
Control - Controlling a proprietary telephone keyset through the use of a personal computer connected directly to the kevset.
3rd Party Call
Control - Controlling a proprietary telephone keyset through the use of personal computer; but in this case, the connection is made via local area network (LAN).
DDE - Dynamic Data Exchange, the link that allows information exchange between two Windows applications. Example: personal information manager (PIM) software and automated dialing.
TAPI - Microsoft's Telephony Applications Programming Interface, which is a standard used in 3rd party call control allowing communications between the PC-based telephony application and the telephone keyset.
